Scouting History
Youth Membership
I attended Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts and Scouts with the 9th Winchester (Colden Common) Scout Group. There was no Venture Scouts available in Colden Common so I joined the 12th Winchester (Green Jackets). With them I completed my Queen's Scout Award (see below), spent two weeks in Kandersteg, Switzerland along with 300 other Venture Scouts from Hampshire, and travelled around Romania completing a community project and expedition and meeting Romanian Scouts.
Adult Roles
I started as a Troop Assistant and then became an Assistant Scout Leader with the 29th Southampton (Immaculata) Scout Group in 1999, when I moved there to go to university. I stayed there until I had finished university in 2003.Once I had left university I moved back to Winchester, where I joined the 5th Winchester. I stayed there for a few months, but then found a job in London so had to leave again.
When I moved to London, in October 2003, I joined the 6th Southgate as an Assistant Scout Leader. It was here that I was asked to take part in a Duke of Edinburgh Gold Expedition on the Moune Mountains in Northern Ireland. I completed the expedition and along with the other requirements this allowed me to complete the award. I also became involved in the Southern 50 and Chiltern 20 challenge hikes.
In 2006 I was asked to take on the additional role of Assistant District Commissioner (Communications) for Southgate District. I run the District website and take photographs at many district events.
